Jay Sadler leads operations for the Distributed Energy Operations & Maintenance (DEOM) team within Duke’s Energy’s Customer Solutions’ Distributed Energy Enablement and Storage Program. In this role, Sadler manages the Distributed Generation Operations Center (DGOC), the centralized operations center for all grid-connected battery storage and solar sites.
During his 10 years with Duke Energy, Sadler has worked in nuclear, hydro and solar generation. With experience in operations, training, procedure writing and fire safety, Sadler's expertise has positioned him to lead the operations team and manage activities for the company’s distributed energy resources including batteries, microgrids and small-scale solar sites.
Sadler started his career with Duke Energy as an operator at the McGuire Nuclear Station, responsible for the safe operation of the two nuclear units and fire brigade. While at McGuire, he was promoted to trainer and evaluator for new operators. After McGuire, he joined the Regulated Renewables Operations Center (RROC) and advanced to senior coordinator, maintaining the safe operation of Duke Energy's fleet of hydro, pumped storage and large-scale regulated solar sites in all company jurisdictions. While in the RROC, Sadler also developed operations procedures for the operations center.
