Erik Archibald Speaker at Energy Storage Summit USA 2026

Erik Archibald

Partner, Principal Engineer Hazard Dynamics

Dr. Erik Archibald is a Principal Engineer at Hazard Dynamics where he leads energy storage safety consulting work. He has provided fire, explosion, toxicity or battery safety analysis on more than 140 energy storage sites totaling more than 30 GWh of energy storage. Dr. Archibald is an expert in computational fluid dynamics modeling of fire, explosion and plume hazards and finite element analysis of structural response to blast. Dr. Archibald holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas where his dissertation focused on lithium-ion fire and explosion hazards. Dr. Archibald has conducted lithium-ion battery fire and explosion experiments from single cell to building scale. He has experience as a structural engineer designing buildings to resist explosions and impact. Dr. Archibald serves as a structural specialist on Texas Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue team and was previously a volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania and Mississippi.
