Sergio Figueroa Sanz

Sergio is a Managing Director at First Citizen Bank’s Energy Finance Group, based in Los Angeles, CA. The Energy Finance Group at First Citizens Bank (“FCB”) deploys US$1 to 1.5 billion in secured and non/limited-recourse debt every year, across industry verticals, with nearly half allocated to the renewables and battery storage sector – typically in direct lending products such as construction-to-term loans, tax equity bridge loans and tax credit transfer bridge loans, and ancillary facilities (e.g. letters of credit).

FCB is a market leader and among the most active lenders in utility-scale battery storage in the US (incl. select fully-merchant assets). To-date, FCB has financed 15 stand-alone storage and solar + storage assets for nearly US$3 billion capital executed in aggregate.

Prior to FCB, Sergio held various senior positions in the commercial banking and investment banking platforms of German Landesbank NORD/LB and French bank Credit Agricole CIB, where he led over US$15 billion in infrastructure & energy project financings across Latin America and the US; and was part of the credit and economic analysis teams of global financial insurer Syncora Guarantee (f/k/a XL Capital Assurance) and Standard & Poor’s.
