Jon Sarno
Mr. Jon Sarno is the Senior Director of Project Finance for Energy Storage for New Leaf Energy (formerly the development arm of Borrego Solar), located in the Lowell office. In his current role Jon is responsible for the de-risking, marketing, and transactions around NLE’s energy
storage pipeline. Jon joined Borrego Solar in 2007 after leaving a small renewable energy and energy efficiency firm in New York that he helped establish in 2005. Jon was one of Borrego Solar’s first hires on the East Coast and took a joint Project Management/Project Developer role and then later was Borrego’s first Applications Engineer, helping to drive both pre-sales engineering and logistical deployment of large-scale commercial and municipal projects. In 2011 Jon switched his focus to project development and spent the next several years developing MW-scale projects and developing business in Texas. In 2018 Jon took on a new role in the Project Finance department where he led the New England team in de-risking and maximizing the value of projects and as a transaction lead on the project company sales. Jon has extensive building science, photovoltaic, and solar thermal experience including whole building auditing as well as the design and installation of solar thermal and electric systems. He is a NABCEP Certified Installer and earned his Masters of Science in Environmental Policy from Bard College. Jon also holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, which he earned from the University of Texas
