Peter O’Brien

Peter O’Brien is Sales Director for the West Region at Fluence where he assists clients in navigating the complexities of optimizing their energy storage system designs and schedules and the supporting contracts behind the, which must satisfy the needs of their investors and lenders. He has worked on projects across the US and Canada including in CAISO, ERCOT, Ontario, ISO-NE, NYISO, Arizona, and more, and on system supply contracts, software licensing, and services and warranty agreements. Peter began his career in the energy industry as a utility-scale solar project developer, where he was responsible for land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, power marketing, and financing. He has helped to build and grow several start-ups focused on serving utility-scale and commercial scale applications. After nearly a decade in solar, Peter made the move to energy storage in 2017 when he joined Advanced Microgrid Solutions (now Fluence Digital) to help successfully complete sourcing and contracting with commercial clients to host energy storage systems participating in the world’s first and largest battery energy storage backed Behind-The-Meter Virtual Power Plant (VPP). That 50 MW / 300 MWh VPP is contracted with Southern California Edison.
