Senior Manager, Market Design Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO)

Neil Shah is the Senior Manager of Market Design for the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), an independent, non‐profit organization responsible for maintaining reliable transmission of power in 15 states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. In this role, Neil manages his team that is responsible for evaluating and designing market enhancements to address emerging market and reliability needs as the electric grid transforms through integration of renewable resources and new technologies. In his current role, Neil is responsible to vet the market enhancements and design changes through the internal and stakeholder processes.

Neil Shah has over 18 years of experience in the energy industry and has been with MISO since 2005. Prior to joining the Market Design group, he was managing the Economic planning group, primarily focusing on economic evaluation for MISO Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP) and Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP). Since 2005, Neil has also held other managing and engineering positions within the Generator Interconnection Planning, Generation Retirement Planning and Forward Market Operations teams at MISO.
